Staff Accountant
Auditor’s Office – Morton County
POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides accounting, reporting, and financial coordination support within the Auditor’s Office, such as those listed below.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position performs a range of duties involving financial recordkeeping, reconciliation, reporting, and support of payroll and benefit-related transactions, as listed below.
Prepare, review, and reconcile financial records and general ledger accounts
Verify and process tax collections and distribute funds to appropriate entities
Prepare financial reports, including expenditure, revenue, and cash reports
Support payroll-related financial activities, including reconciliation and validation of transactions
Assist with benefit-related financial transactions and vendor payments
Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
Support audit processes by preparing reports and verifying financial data
Respond to inquiries from departments, employees, and external entities
Maintain confidentiality of financial and employee information
Assist with statutory processes, public inquiries, and other office functions as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
The following minimum qualifications are required to perform the essential functions of this position, as outlined below.
Associate's Degree
Two years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or related financial work, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The following qualifications are desirable and may enhance a candidate’s ability to perform the duties of this position, as listed below.
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, business, human resources, public administration, or related field
Experience with governmental accounting or fund accounting
Familiarity with reconciliations, internal controls, and financial reporting processes
